and a possible death penalty. harris faulkner's live from our new york city newsroom with a look back at how this all up folded. >> reporter: you know, going back really puts a fine point on why this case has captivated so many people, the details were just unreal for us to even imagine. first, the romance. jodi arias was an aspiring sales woman and photographer living in california. travis alexander was a salesman and motivational speaker live anything mesa, a suburb of phoenix, arizona. they met in september of 2006 at a work convention in las vegas. they quickly began a long distance relationship. by november of that year, jodi converted to travis' religion and became baptized as a mormon. but things were bumpy, so much so the couple split up in june of 2007. but as we learned in the days and days of raw trial testimony from arias, they continued to see each other in 2007 for sex. weeks later jodi moved to arizona to wait tables and clean travis' house for extra cash. then a few months later she moved back to california in early 2008, and it was if may of that year -- in may of that year

at safeway. ingredients for life. >>pam: top spot. and california attorney general kamala harris is going after chase bank. why she says one of the biggest banks failed its customers. the kron-4 news at six continues. california is suing one of the largest banks in the nation -- claiming that j-p- morgan chase used illegal collection efforts. the lawsuit was filed thursday by california's attorney general kamala harris. it says that the company filed thousands of debt collection lawsuits every month from 2008 to 2011 using improper practices that shortcut procedures required under california law. harris says the company's methods include "robo- signing" to collect credit card debt. "robo-signing" was common in mortgage foreclosures until it was finally outlawed. chase is one of the five major banks that settled with california and other states after the housing meltdown. chase refused comment today except to say that they are cooperating with the investigation. very soon -- you may not be seeing this at giants games. concession workers dancing -- or anything else. the workers' union -- un

is sort of harry reid and democrats are threatening to kind of torpedo the immigration reform bill by inserting these provisions protecting gay couples, as if it is some kind of special interest provision that they are throwing in there. in fact, this is consistent with the national view on this topic. and so there is a push to make sure that gay couples are included in that. i think it is probably more to think of it as republicans finding excuses to hop off the train on this for their own reasons or just not being able to bring along their very extreme base that is not willing to go along with this. >> when we look down at the state level, illinois was a state that looked like it was going to get marriage equality well before maybe a rhode island or a delaware. there was a big shake up with pat brady who stepped aside because of his support for marriage equality. you point out what is taking place on the national scene and a great piece with senator lahy and what he is able to do. >> the ooriginal proposal talked about for years would create what's called a permanent partnership
